Learning Chamorro Through Arts Program
Join Eva Aguon Cruz, Chamoru Language Instructor and native speaker manåmkos in a weekend full of learning Chamorro through arts. All experience levels and ages are welcome. Each person must register separately.
The Chamoru language through arts program will utilize an indigenous pedagogy - a communicative, experiential and intergenerational approach to teaching. The program will be offered on the weekend to provide access for local people and commuters to participate. The goal will be to build a safe language speaking community and equip participants with basic blocks of conversational language by having an experience with cultural arts.
By integrating language learning with cultural arts and collaboration with manåmko’ (wise elder) , we hope to create a lasting impact on participants to experience Chamoru culture and contribute to the revitalization and preservation of Chamoru heritage.
